About Toshi Yoshida

Toshi Yoshida (Japanese, 1911-1995) the son of Fujio and Hiroshi, was born
into a family of artists and started creating his own art at the age of three. He took part in the
Sosaku-hanga art movement, which allowed Toshi to be fully involved in each step of the in
the creation of his woodblock prints. He drew, carved, and printed each block himself. He is
known for his daring use of color and space in his prints. Toshi Yoshida’s woodblocks
typically depict landscapes and animals. All prints are created from the original blocks carved
by Toshi Yoshida.
